Linda’s Living Room – a salon for Global CoLab Network and ReImagine Science.
On June 19th, 2015 several people in the science and science policy domains met in Linda Staheli’s living room for one of the many Global CoLab salons hosted this year by this new not-for-profit out of the Washington DC area.
ReImagine Science is a strong supporter of Linda’s vision, and helped her bring the CoLab vision to the Franchise for Humanity 2015 conference we co-organized in February of this year.
This promises to be a year of great importance for the future of science due to the many incipient policy decisions that are likely to impact how science gets done, both in the United States and globally. Chris Pickett, policy analyst at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, is pictured on the right, and just co-authored a policy editorial “Toward a sustainable biomedical research enterprise: Finding consensus and implementing recommendations” that discusses the top recommendations made in recent months.
FOBGAPT is the acronym for another set of meetings coming out of the biomedical research community; May 3-5th saw a number of us gathering at the University of Michigan to suss out a number of issues as well as emerging trends in the biomedical research, innovation, and training community.
One particularly noteworthy group represented by Gary McDowell at #fobgapt is the Future of Research out of Boston. Their policy recommendation piece was published on Faculty of 1000’s site.
