A group of us participated in this year’s Opening Space for Peace and High Performance – Kári Gunnarson, Kennan Salinero, and Annick Corriveau – and found a common thread around the topic of grief and death (Grief in Businesses was the session topic Annick hosted; Death and Open Space was co-hosted by myself (Kennan) and Kári). That was in January. Since then we have gathered more people into the conversation, hosting a series of online meetings about grieving, and thriving. We hosted a 2 hour Open Space on April 2nd, on the theme: What Must My Circles and I Grieve on Our Journey to Thriving and Prospering Together? That event was followed by a Lean Coffee on April 30th. A small community has met weekly, to design and put on these offerings. It has allowed the group to expand our technical capabilities, as we experiment with simultaneous translation into other languages, Lean Coffee as a meeting technique, and distributed teams where we are self-organizing, creating relationships and learning together.
Now, we are hosting a full day event (5 hours) to ask the question: How do we make space for grief in the workplace. A full description is here, along with links to the registration site.
